Candidate for the Best paper at IoT2020
We are very happy and proud to announce, that our research paper titled "Natural Language Goal Understanding for Smart Homes Environments" was selected as the candidate for Best Paper at the 10th International Conference on the Internet of Things organized in Malmö, Sweden. The contribution is a collaborative work of Mahda Noura, Sebastian Heil and Martin Gaedke.

Welcome to the winter semester 2020/2021
We welcome back all our students of Chemnitz University of Technology that will participate virtually in one of our courses from the professorship for Distributed and Self-organizing systems (VSR) in winter semester 2020/2021.
The first VSR lecture will be held beginning on Monday, 19 October
2020.
The Planspiel opening meeting will take place on Wednesday, 21
October 2020.
The tutorials will start later in the semester.
All educational sessions of our VSR professorship will be conducted as an online format this semester. The links for the virtual web rooms are published on the corresponding course page in the Education section and via OPAL.
Please stay up-to-date when our tutorials and seminars will start. Also keep in mind, that you have to register for some of our seminars and the Planspiel via OPAL in advance.
INF project at CRC #HybridSocieties
Our VSR team members Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Gaedke and André Langer participated in a project meeting of the DFG Collaborative Research Center Hybrid Societies and presented our current work progress and further strategy within the INF project about Interdisciplinary Research Dataset Publishing and Collaboration.
Additionally, the Executive Board of the CRC Hybrid Societies approved André's status as an Associated Doctoral Candidate within this project.
DYNAMIK Research Paper presented at #MuC2020
In September 2020, our VSR staff member Verena Traubinger participated in the the Mensch & Computer 2020 Conference in Magdeburg, Germany.
Our ESF Young Researcher Group DYNAMIK presented a research paper about "Dynamic indoor navigation and orientation system for people with impairments". Additionally, we contributed to the workshop "Digitale Lösungen für eine inklusivere Mobilität in Gebäuden?".
VSR at Digital Rail Summer School #DRSS2020
In September 2020, our VSR team member Valentin Siegert participated in the Digital Rail Summer School (DRSS) 2020 in Jöhstadt, Germany, in the context of our project activities together with the Deutschen Bahn, HPI Potsdam, TU Berlin, TU Dresden, TU Braunschweig and the IFB.
Congratulations to our VSR member Sebastian Heil for his successful PhD defense
Our VSR team member Sebastian Heil successfully defended his PhD thesis "Web Migration Revisited Adressing Effort and Risk Concerns" on 24 September 2020.
We congratulate Sebastian to his achievement and are happy to further work with him in our VSR research group at Chemnitz University of Technolgy in the future.
VSR Exams in Summer Semester 2020
The written exams in Cloud&Web Applications, Rechnernetze and Security of Distributed Software in summer semester 2020 will be conducted in a virtual environment as an online exam based on the platform TUCexam and BigBlueButton.
The date and time of each VSR exam can be found in the Prüfungsplan.
You have to register for
the exam in advance via the examination office and need one webcam in order to
participate.
Each of these VSR exams is an Open Book exam and will be provided both in English and German.
All printed materials can be used, but no additional device or software apart from the mentioned two platforms are allowed.
You will receive particular information on how to participate in the online exam in advance via email. Make sure, that you are subscribed to our OPAL courses for that purpose, and check your emails regularly.
Frequently asked questions related to the conduction of an online exam together with a test exam are provided by our university on a separate page , supplemented by additional information provided by the StuRa.
We will offer an additional consultation session for the VSR modules Rechnernetze and Security of Distributed Software in the last week of July.
