In collaborative environments, like organizations, tracking goals does not only make progress visible, but also shows work contributes to the organization’s goals and therefore it makes the work more meaningful. Since goal setting can be easily done wrong, especially with many people involved in collaborative environments, a formal way of doing so is necessary. To support goals management through a formal process, there are two wide-spread approaches that have been evolved over the last decades and are still increasingly used in many organizations today. The two main approaches are Objectives and Key Results (OKR) and the Logical Framework Approach (LFA). This work analyses the state of the art in Goal Science/Management with a focus on OKR and LFA.
