The Generic Collaboration Infrastructure
Injecting Collaboration Support in Knockout Applications
A means to inject Shared Editing Capabilities in existing Single-User Web Applications
In the light of the Web 2.0 movement, web-based collaboration tools such as Google Docs have become mainstream and in the meantime serve millions of users. Apart from established collaborative web applications, numerous web editors lack multi-user support even though they are suitable for collaborative work.
Therefore, we devised the Generic Collaboration Infrastructure (GCI) capable of converting single-user web editors into multi-user editors. On this demo site, we demonstrate single-user editors that were successfully transformed to collaborative multi-user editors. Currently, the demo site illustrates the collaborative graphics editor SVG-edit as well as the collaborative word processor CKEditor.
